End of an Era - Watercolour with Claire

 ANNOUNCEMENT

Claire and I have spent the past 19 years running Art at Treetops classes, exploring watercolour, acrylics, pastels, pen and wash, mixed media and oils.

Thank you if you've painted with us either in person or via or online library of downloadable workshops.

Treetops Art days are coming to an end at the end of the Summer Term 2024.  We would both like to thank you for all your company, laughter, tears, real friendships and amazing accomplishment in your art adventures.

Time for new journeys, some more time in Cornwall, prioritising health and a gentler pace.

Claire will still be at Marlborough Summer School this year and running her April and September 3-day Cotswold Painting weekends, message me if you would like further details. Her Gift Store full of items adorned in her images can be found HERE.

Our Online Workshops will be still be available to buy from the website and I will still be running Claire's Online Art Materials Shop, with her paints, sketchpads, material boxes, paper and mounts etc.

April Sound Healing Evenings

Our Sound Healing Evenings are so relaxing and cosy, we have held some great evenings recently with more to come this month.

I supply yoga mats, duvets, cushions, eye cushions and filtered water.  You are welcome to bring anything else to make your evening cosy.

Sound waves are created by the quartz crystal bowl and koshi bells.  Sound waves along with their frequency and vibration really help us with our wellbeing, relaxation and sleep.

During the evening your body will fully relax, your breath will slow down and your mind will quieten.

Sound Healing is the use of healing frequencies to essentially 'tune us' and shift us back into balance and harmony again.  When the crystal singing bowls are played, the healing frequencies emitted from the bowls, locate the less harmonious frequencies within us and work to shift the disharmony back into harmony again.  (Harmonies may have shifted for many reasons, physical, mental, emotional or spiritual).

Each class runs for 75 minutes and costs £13

Our upcoming classes with spaces are:

Tuesday 23 April
Sunday 28 April
Tuesday 7 May

7:30pm - 8:45pm

Simply Seashells Class

We spent a lovely afternoon last week with shells, seaglass and sea pottery, creating wonderful works of art.

After discussing papers, glues and the best accessories to use, everyone had a practice with the sea treasures on gift cards, which is a good way to practice handling the glue.

Circular and heart templates were used in this class

As always cake was served, today was banana and walnut loaf cake

There were some seaglass identification books out and a selection of my previous work for inspiration

One of our ladies had some very old family shells in the loft from Kenya which she thought would be much better on the wall in a box frame than in the loft.

Here are the finished works of art, not fully framed as the glue needs to stick a bit more!

It's such a lovely and relaxing class, our next one is on Friday 7 June in the morning 10am - 12:30pm, £40.  Bookings will be open soon on the website HERE

Beginners Watercolour Class

A warm welcome to a full group of Beginners looking to explore and learn all about Watercolour with Claire.

Our subject and inspiration for the day was a beach in Jersey

Greve de Lecq

Everyone spent time learning about papers, paints and mixing colours, before starting their main painting with a beautiful wash and continuing the day in step by step stages.

Below are the finished paintings, they are great!

If you missed this class, we have a downloadable Beginners Watercolour Workshop on our website here:

it's about an hour long and you can learn at your own pace, stop, rewind and rewatch again and again.

We also have a Beginners Materials Art Box which is a great addition to the workshop, you will save about 20% buying it all together in this way.

Texture in Art with Claire

We recently held a Textures Art Class using watercolour pencils, pen and wash.

Claire had some great images and photos of old doors and ironmongery with peeling paintwork, crumbly stone surrounds, old steps and brickwork, each one told a great story.

Having drawn out the door, a gentle wash was applied, some texture paste was also put to show brick and stone work, then bit by bit the watercolour pencils were used to add colour and structure to the painting.

Here are some of the art materials we used at class.

After a break for some delicious lunch of pesto salmon served with giant couscous and roasted vegetables, the afternoon was spent finishing off everyone's various creations.

(vegetarian option: all dietary requirements are looked after at Treetops)

Here a selection of some of the finished artworks.
